USAV Men's NCAA Collegiate Grant Program
Grant Name: USAV Men's NCAA Collegiate Grant Program
Who May Apply:
Any NCAA institution that is committed to starting a varsity men's volleyball program on their campus is eligible to apply for this grant. Schools from Division I, II, or III are encouraged to apply. Additional grant funding may be available for multi-sport conferences that add men's volleyball as a conference sport.
Synopsis of Grant:
These grants are intended to provide an incentive for an NCAA institution to consider adding varsity men's volleyball as a sport on their campus. The grants are multi-year grants issued over three years and totaling $6,000. Typical grant payments of $2,000 are distributed in May for the following season, although under some circumstances allocations can be adjusted to meet unique conditions at the institution. All efforts are made to encourage multiple schools within an NCAA Conference to add men's volleyball at the same time. This not only can reduce travel expenses but also adds an additional opportunity for schools to capture a Conference Championship, and could potentially lead to an automatic qualifier to an NCAA Championship event. Grants may be applied and awarded at throughout the year.
Requirements:
A letter from the school administration stating their decision to add men's volleyball as a varsity sport, and the school year in which the sport will be considered varsity, must be sent to USAV along with acknowledgement that the school will meet the guidelines of the grant or risk repayment of a prorated portion of the grant. The institution must agree to sponsor a varsity team for at least three consecutive years. A copy of the letter to the NCAA stating that the school is creating a new varsity team must be sent to USAV. An end-of-season report must be given at the conclusion of each year during the life of the grant, which will include a roster of players and coaches, their email addresses, and a season schedule and match record including opponents. The report must also have video/DVD documentation of at least one match from the season. The school must host at least one USAV CAP program during the life of the grant using school facilities and provide documentation of such an event. The team must work with USAV and the AVCA to encourage boys' volleyball growth in the surrounding communities.
